Code of Ethics
I, _____________________________, as a leader in my school community, recognize that I am a role model. I will use my role as a leader to help promote our school’s core values respect for self and others, responsibility, and integrity
I pledge to show Respect for Self and Others. I recognize that all people have innate worth, and my actions uphold that dignity; I treat myself and others with kindness, compassion, and dignity.
I will:
- Identify my gifts and talents and use them as best as I am able.
- Rely on others, especially when problems get too big for me.
- Act with courtesy and kindness.
- Defend those who are being bullied or harassed or whose reputation is being damaged.
- Go out of my way to be nice to those who are new and/or are “outsiders” in our school community.
- Dress and conduct myself in a way that shows I respect my
- own dignity and worth.
- Take part in behaviors that harm my body, like drinking,
- smoking, and using drugs.
- Be rude or use inappropriate language.
- Judge others based on their race, gender, religion, etc.
- Gossip.
- Bully.
- Make mean or hurtful comments about others.
I will:
- Meet deadlines.
- Do my own work and do it as well as I can.
- Continue to try, even when something is challenging.
- Seek help when I need it.
- Give others the chance to learn and grow.
- Organize projects to help my community.
- Participate in long-term service to assist those in need.
- Go late to meetings and/or turn in assignments late.
- Give up when an assignment gets hard.
- Take on more than I can handle because I don’t know my limits.
- Try to do everything by myself.
- Settle for the bare minimum and only do what I “have to.”
I will:
- Be honest about my beliefs and who I am so others can see the “real me.”
- Do my own work and refuse to help others cheat.
- Say “no” to peers’ pressure to do things I don’t believe in (like drinking or using drugs).
- Violate my values and beliefs so others will like me.
- Lie or misrepresent the truth.
- Steal (including burning CDs or downloading music illegally).
- Cheat, including copying or allowing others to copy my homework; disclosing test contents to later classes; and plagiarism.
- Pretend to be someone I’m not.
